HCDA Hosts the Leadership Henry Class of 2015 for Economic Development Day
The Henry County Development Authority hosted the Leadership Henry Class of 2015 for Economic Development Day on December 10th. Leadership Henry is a 10-month program dedicated to providing participants with an understanding of Henry County's history, diversity, justice system, politics, government, economy, education, human services, and healthcare.
The annual Economic Development Day, held each December, provides an introduction and overview of economic development in Georgia and Henry County. This year’s program kicked off with a presentation from Lauren Lambiase - Senior Project Manager, Corporate Solutions & Data Center Team for the Georgia Department of Economic Development (GDEcD). Lambiase provided an overview of how the GDEcD is structured and how Georgia seeks to diversify our business mix. Lambiase managed a very recent successful project location in Henry, TSYS, and provided her insights on how Henry County emerged as the “winner” for this project.
The day long program was held in the Hudgins Room at the Henry County Chamber of Commerce and also featured presentations from Jonathan Sangster, General Manager of Community and Economic Development for Georgia Power Company and from Jim O’Bryan, Manager: Retail and Commercial Development for the Georgia Electric Membership Corporation.
Following a presentation on local economic development efforts from the HCDA team, the Leadership Henry class toured the ALPLA manufacturing facility in McDonough, GA. ALPLA is one of the world's largest manufacturers of bottles and closures. The company searves beauty, personal care, fabric and homecare, food, beverage and oils/lubricants segments.
Economic Development Day wrapped up with a presentation from Laura Luker, Henry County Convention and Visitors Bureau, on how Tourism is Economic Development.
